Swiss Public Transport: GA, Halbtax, and City Cards in Geneva

Make the most of Switzerland's world-class public transport network.

All cantonsZurichGeneva

Switzerland has one of the world's best public transport networks, integrating trains, trams, buses, and boats under a single ticketing system.

Half-Tax card (Halbtax)

The Halbtax card costs around CHF 185/year and gives 50% off all SBB, PostBus, boat, and most urban transport fares. It pays for itself after just 8–10 medium-distance trips. Almost every Swiss resident has one.

GA (General Abonnement)

The GA Travelcard gives unlimited travel on all Swiss public transport for CHF 3,860/year (2nd class). Worth it if you commute regularly or travel more than 2–3 times per week.

City transport

Zurich and Geneva both have excellent city transport networks (ZVV and TPG respectively). Monthly passes are much cheaper than buying tickets individually.
