Opening a Swiss bank account is one of your most important first steps. You'll need it to pay rent, utilities, and receive your salary.
Fintech options (fastest to open)
Neon, Yuh, and Zak are app-based accounts that open entirely online with no paperwork — just a passport scan and a short video selfie. Fees are low or zero. Neon is particularly popular with expats.
Traditional banks
UBS, Credit Suisse (now part of UBS), PostFinance, and Raiffeisen are established Swiss banks. Opening takes 1–2 weeks and requires an in-person appointment. They offer more services but are more expensive.
What you'll need
Any bank will ask for: valid passport or ID, proof of Swiss address (commune registration certificate or rental contract), and usually a work contract or proof of income.
